What gets checked

- Title similarity against source records.
- Publication year and author metadata when available.
- Whether a record appears in more than one trusted scholarly source.
Result meanings
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Verified | The reference matched a reliable metadata source with high confidence. |
| Needs review | A possible match was found, but the title, year, author, or metadata confidence needs manual checking. |
| Not found | No reliable source match was found within the automatic lookup window. |
